Please be aware that every trunking-capable 2-way radio that we sell (which includes the XTS and APX series portable radios) has a configuration file (codeplug) that is password-protected. This is not only to protect our proprietary configuration, but to protect us from potential legal issues. We spent a huge amount of time perfecting a codeplug that ensures the radio will not transmit or “affiliate” with a radio system, which is not only an FCC violation but also a possible criminal act in some places. We’ve also verified our codeplugs with a system administrator, who we’ve developed a good rapport with, and we will not jeopardize our good standing by allowing end users to change the programming with our name or configuration associated with it.
Should a buyer wish to have the ability to program the radio themselves (for example, if you plan on putting your radio onto a radio system by your system administrator), we can accommodate that by shipping the radio with a blank codeplug. If you are one of those people, please send us an email BEFORE you make your purchase, that way we know to delete the codeplug for you prior to shipping.
Any buyers who change their mind and wish to return their item will receive a refund minus a $50 restocking fee. Any buyers who wish to have the codeplug blanked out after shipping will have to ship the radio back to us and will be assessed a $50 programming fee, plus return shipping.
